The Story of a Soul
Each of the six songs on this album has a story. In fact, every song I write has story. Thank you for taking the time to visit my site and listen to my songs. I hope you will hear the heart and soul I put into each song.
I have been releasing one song a month as my "Monthly Muse" - Acoustic Demos. For my sixth month I decided to release a six track completed album.
MODERN DAY ROMANCE
...This day has arrived,...In my mind...I'm already here...
For many women, the fairy tale ending is the proposal, the wedding, the happy family, and so on... But that does not always come so easy, especially in this modern world. But for those who are already with that "special someone" it can be frustrating when one person is draggin their feet. If you think hard enough, I know you can name a few people who have felt this way. I decided to poke fun at this idea, rather, at this observation. Because, let's face it, in this world, our modern day romances usually take this course.
Sometimes when I think about all that comes with fame, or the road to it and things that can be compromised along the way...I think... this is not for me. But then, I remember why I'm playing, and putting myself out there...its the music. Its the love of writing, playing, and singing. So why not have some fun with the simple thoughts in my mind? There are some things a girl just isn't meant to do, but others she is destined for, but... I'm still figuring this whole thing called life out.
YELLOW LIGHT LOVE
. . . There are many interpretations for this song and that is its purpose. I want this song to find its way into a personal situation for you where it can relate to you. Everyone has experienced a time in his or her life when you just need to slow down. Things found there way of getting out of control and you ended up caught up in everything and disoriented. Or there are times when you know what the right thing is to do, but you follow your selfish desires. Where was the big yellow light there to slow you down? That is the thing about truly loving someone, the light is there to remind you. . . it will not force you. . . will you see it?
Amid tragedies, natural disasters, & the challenges in life there is a need to rebuild. Life is about how we handle the struggles that we face. It is about how we show love to others no matter the cost. This song is a reminder to me & I hope it is a reminder to you to spread love around. Random acts of kindness & a smile to a stranger can do more than you can imagine. When you need to be lifted up, put back together, or just need to sing something in your car at the top of your lungs...let this be your anthem.
One afternoon as I was making my bed I wondered how different my life would be if I was a celebrity, mostly because then I wouldn't have to make my own bed. I thought about the wonderful possessions I would own, my big beautiful house, millions of fans screaming my name and singing my songs, but then the longer I thought about it the less I yearned for it. Of course, I would love to have the world singing my songs with me, but What I was most excited about was sharing all of the excitements of fame and just the excitements of life with the ones that I love, and the "one" that I love. Yes, my every day life with my loved ones is what I wish most to be my everyday. But, if along life's journey I happen to make billions...all the better. They will always be my "everyday."
IN A WORLD
WE CALL OUR OWN
This song was inspired by my work at SOS Children's Village. I realized there that home does not have to be a place. Home can be a relationship between people. Whether that relationship is between siblings, parent & child, husband & wife, or boyfriend & girlfriend, as long as they are together they are home.
When you listen to this song you may think of the foster children. But, you also may relate it to your own life. No matter where life takes you, no matter where you end up, as long as you are with the ones you love, you are home. The house doesn't matter, the past doesn't matter, when you are together you create this world, this home, that you can have all your own...
